Obituary of Nancy Wang
Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy S. H. Wang passed away on August 11, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Henry and mother of Lucy, Edward and Lisa. She leaves cherished grandchildren behind: Christopher, Samantha, Jonathan, Sabrina, Kaelyn and Jareth.
Nancy led a wonderful life. Born in Beijing and from Fuxian, Liaoning, her father was a General in the Chinese Army fighting the Japanese and then Communist revolutionaries. During these war times her family moved to Sichuan, Nanjing, Fujian and then finally to Taiwan. She completed two years of college in Taiwan, studying business and law. Introduced to Henry by then Catholic Archbishop of Nanking, later, Cardinal Yupin, the two nurtured their relationship by mail. En route to the United States, she passed through Vietnam where she spent two years as a teacher. After arriving in the U.S., she attended Georgian Court University in hopes of completing her college degree before finances made it untenable and she left to focus on her marriage and starting a family.
Henry and Nancy were entrepreneurial; raising a family while running various businesses, including two jewelry stores in Greenwich Village.
Nancy was a source of boundless love, wisdom, strength, and verve. Her presence enriched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her kindness, joviality, grace, and generosity will forever be remembered by her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She experienced great joy from her time spent at Newtown Senior Center in Queens participating in activities and making friendships.
In lieu of flowers, should you wish, donations can be made by writing a check to Newtown Senior Center which can be given or mailed to any one of her children. Venmo is another option. Venmo to Lucywangng@hotmail.com
