One of my most cherished memories of Mary is a sweet story she shared about one of her seven precious children. One Sunday, many years ago, Mary attended Mass with one of her daughters who had not as yet made her First Holy Communion. So, when Mary went up to receive the Sacrament, the priest placed his hands over her daughter's head, and bestowed a blessing upon her. Later that day, Mary and her little daughter were standing in front of their home and their elderly neighbor who lived directly across the street was standing in front of her home. Mary's daughter darted across the street and placed her hands over the elderly lady's head, and then returned home. Mary chastised her daughter for having crossed the street by herself. But she couldn't stay angry for long when the daughter innocently explained: "Father gave me a blessing but I realized that our neighbor needs it more, so I gave my blessing to her." Surely, this sweet and innocent child was emulating her lovely Mom!
