Our daughters have been besties since Nursery School at OLQMCA. I’m “Penelope’s Mom” and Tracy is “Harper’s Mom.” It is a pleasure being moms together. Tracy was and is so many wonderful things to a diversity of people. But, I knew “Mom,” a badge she wore with honor and love and deep responsibility. On many occasions, I volunteered with her at school events, which was always a good time even when the inevitable kid-catastrophes popped up, as happens with little ones. Tracy had an ease about her, a way of finding the humor in the chaos. One time at a classroom end-of-the-year party, Tracy filled a small inflatable pool with water for the kids to play fishing games, but the pool sprung a leak. She said something sarcastic, probably self-deprecating, I can’t remember exactly, and she shook her head, and we laughed. Thank you, Tracy. Wherever you are right now, it was an honor and a pleasure being “Penelope’s Mom” to your “Harper’s Mom.” I hope our daughters will always be friends. May you watch over them and smile.
