Boris Semyonovich Mogilevsky was born in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), in the U.S.S.R. on July 15, 1930 to Shlema (Semyon) Mendelevich Mogilevsky and Rachel (Rachilya) Emanuelovich Edelshteyn Mogilevsky. He was the oldest of their five children.
In Moscow, he met and married Lydia Brychova. They had two sons: Simon in 1973, and after immigrating to the United States and settling in Queens, New York, their second son, Phillip in 1975.
To know Boris Semyonovich was to know his joie de vivre. He loved life, he loved his family, and knew how to be a friend. He was sartorial man who brushed elbows with many famous people over his long life, from Vertinsky to Jackie Onassis. He was also a ski aficionado second to none and introduced the love of the snowy slopes to family and friends.
A man of many talents, he engaged in professional interior design, antique furniture and fine art restoration, and had many adventures in the art world where he was well known by name.
He had also written and published four books, which were lauded by everyone who read them.
Boris passed in Queens, New York on August 29, 2022 at the age of 92.He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lydia, and three siblings.
Boris is survived by his brother, Rudy, his son Simon, granddaughter Anastasia, and his son Phillip, daughter-in-law Christa, and grandchildren, Liam, Ella, and Addison. He will be missed for his sense of humor, his kindness, as well as his passion for life, art, jazz, skiing, and all his wonderful stories.
