Obituary of Dennis Murphy Sullivan

Dennis Murphy Sullivan passed away on October 2, 2021. He was 51 years old.

Dennis will be remembered as a loving father, brother, son and friend. He was a larger than life character, with a knack for finding himself in impossible situations that often had the most fantastical outcomes, both good and bad. Along the way he made a million friends, all of whom have a million fond memories.

Dennis had a magical way of connecting with people. He was personable, kind, and charismatic. He made friends every single day, often in the unlikeliest of places. He saw everyone as equals and he always saw the good in people. As a result, people saw the good in him, too. Everyone responded to his candor, wit, and humor. His friends are too many to count.

Dennis was also hilarious. He liked making people laugh, and had a talent for it. He had a way of making every moment a comedy. His humanity and intelligence let him see the humor and irony in every situation, and he generously shared it. Dennis would make you laugh. Whether you wanted to or not, whether it felt appropriate or not, he would make you smile.

He was generous: he didn’t have much, but what he had he would share. He was loving and compassionate. Finally, he was courageous. He had a difficult life and a terrible addiction, but he never gave up. He worked on getting sober again and again, with a determination and grace that made us proud. Dennis was a kind, decent person. He will be missed by so many. He is forever adored by his family and sisters.

Dennis is survived by his son Caden Sullivan, whom he loved with his whole heart; his sisters Dawn Toto, Veronica Sullivan, and Megan Bengoechea; his brothers-in-law Joe Toto and Inigo Bengoechea, his nieces and nephews Michelle, Jacqueline, Caroline, Joseph, Catherine, Howard, his goddaughter Anna; and his parents Gerard and Eileen Sullivan.

Visitation is scheduled at Fox Funeral Home in Forest Hills on Thursday, October 7^th from 2-5PM and 7-9PM. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, October 8^th at 11AM at St. Pancras Church in Glendale.
