Obituary of Anita Catherine Arroyo
With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we regret to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and loving friend to so many, Anita Arroyo. Anita, 72, of Richmond Hill, Queens, died peacefully on Friday March 6th, 2020 at her home with her family.
Anita was born in New York City to Rafael and Anna Cortes on October 22nd, 1947. She grew up in New York City and graduated from St. Clare’s Nursing School in 1967. Since a little girl Anita dreamed of becoming a nurse and loved working as a registered nurse for over forty years. On July 19th, 1975 she married her loving husband, Miguel Arroyo.
Anita was our angel on earth and her passing has left a tremendous hole in all our hearts. She was a beautiful person with the kindest, most generous, most thoughtful, most caring heart. She always loved so fiercely and so unconditionally. She enjoyed life and was always so full of fun and laughter. She was truly an extraordinary person and did everything with grace and dignity. She had a big, sensitive heart and easily felt empathy for others. She was also a true warrior of bravery and strength. To know her was to know love.
A special thank you to Dr. Troso and the staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for their great care and compassion.
Thank you to all our family and friends who showed Anita such tremendous love and support. Her life and memory will forever be cherished. She is survived by her husband, Mike; her son Christopher and his wife, Amy; her daughter Anissa and her husband, Ariel; her granddaughters Leyla (12), Skyla (8), and Aria (5); her mother Anna; her brother Rafael and family; her loving cousins, nieces, nephews and her loyal and dedicated friends with whom she shared very special moments.
